N&M Offices N&M Internal

McAvoy Off-site has manufactured a permanent prefabricated modular building for Newry and Mourne City Council.

Project: New office building

Client:  Newry and Mourne City Council, Newry, Northern Ireland

Requirement: 605m2 two-storey building

Our Solution: We provided a full design and build package to outline plans from the council for the permanent building. As an essential part of the design process, we sought and incorporated the views of staff about the building and internal layout they wished.

We then manufactured a prefabricated modular and steel-framed building off-site for use by the council’s Building Control Department. The building, completed on schedule within 14 weeks, was required to enable the council to accommodate additional staff from a growth in this important department. It also had to be a showpiece for the department because of its role in building control.

Our aim was also to create an attractive environment for employees and visitors.

Among the features of the building was a mono pitch roof with glazed curtain insulated panels and attractive exterior cedar cladding. We also provided a high specification internal fit-out with suspended ceilings, air-conditioning, cabling and trunking for electrics and computers, and state-of-the-art conference and meeting facilities.

In addition, two bridges, one low level, the other high level, were constructed to connect the new building to an adjoining office block. We were also required to dismantle three sectional buildings and relocate these on-site.
